Avo-Satsuma-Dulse Soup (Is On!)

I found my dinner creation this evening to be quite good. Tangy. Tasty. And agrees with me.

DinDin Green Soup

Place in Vitamix:

1 satsuma, peeled
1 celery stalk broke in pieces
1/4 lg carrot sliced in chunks
4 lettuce leaves
a little lemon juice

Blend until smooth.

Add:
1/2 avocado
1 frond wakame broke in pieces
1 T or more Dulse
1 sm T miso paste
1/2 clove garlic (optional)

Blend again until seaweed is fairly smooth.

Place in nice bowl and top with:

1/2 avocado diced
sprouted dried seeds
nutritional yeast
cayenne pepper
splash of sea salt (optional)
splash of lemon juice (optional)

I like the ease of digesting my greens and veggies this way and it really is satisfying and delicious!

Who I Voted For Best of Vegan 2009 (& How You Can Vote Too!)

Here are the folks I voted for. I could only pick one of course but took note of second choice for this posting.(You can please vote here.)

A huge hat tip to organizer visionary Laura Fox!

All Categories are Raw Vegan and I absolutely loved the criteria to not accept nominations for those who partake of flesh foods. Even though I, myself, have dabbled off the path of completely vegetarian over the past few years, I vow to return to 100% vegan and not waiver off vegetarian even if I slip now and then it won't be more than off occasional dairy.

Best of Raw 2009 to vote click herehttp://bestofraw.net/vote-now-for-2009/

1) Raw Vegan Educator: Matt Monarch
I chose him because of his deep studies into pioneers and elderly writers about calcification and his fresh perspective on consistent (over) eating and progressing into undereating has made a big impression on me and has stayed with me in my thoughts over the past year. I'm certainly inspired by and supported by the many educators out there.

2) Chef: I chose Chaya Ryvka Diel because I was so impressed with her work at Raw Union and her profiles since. 2nd: Solla (but I chose her as sexiest raw vegan woman instead -- I almost voted her as chef.)

3) Restaurant: I chose Ecopolitan because I've eaten there and enjoyed it so much. I go to Blossoming Lotus but have had some ups and downs there plus they don't have an extensive and all-raw menu like Ecopolitan, Minneapolis, MN Don't get me wrong. I'm grateful for Blossoming Lotus ...

4) 4) Athlete Tim Van Orden
5) Sexiest Woman: Solla 2nd Lori Painter, 3rd Shazzie but I actually almost voted for Lisa Paris--she has an incredible body and attitude and is from Portland! But Solla charmed me at Raw Union and I think she is so sexy!
6) Sexiest Man: David Wolfe hands down.
7) Musician: Jimmy Free 2nd Jason Mraz
8) Company for kudos: 1) Raw Reform (Angela Stokes has been a source of courage, support and true north for me since way past last year when I was desperately seeking a way to get back to the life-changing raw foods and juice feasting path I had known before ...) 2nd) Bishops Best Ice Cream

9) Favorite Raw Vegan Chocolate Treat
Artisana Cacao Bliss
10) Fave TV show: therawfoodworld.tv because of all the awesome things I see and even though at times my life seems alittle dull and shabby after watching one of their promotions. ;) the truth of the matter is that consistently it's "the sound of music" style of Angela and the comedic-rebellious aspect of Matt Monarch that actually keeps me on my true raw path day after day ;) thanks Mr and Mrs Monarch!
(yes, I was at their wedding! It was life-changing!)
11) Fave Blog: Inspire2act.com Lori Painter manages to stay business-like while opening her life up like a book--even appearing in bikini's at times in such a ladylike manner! She inspires me EVERY time I read her to be authentic. To forge further ahead on my path to optimal wellness AND to keep blogging and sharing my true being with the community. 2nd was Bittof Raw
12) Favorite Raw Vegan Radio Show: Matt & Angela's Radio Show Matt's recent interviews were over the top good. Dr Cousens, Shazzie, Victoria Boutenko etc
13) Fave Book: Survival Into The 21st Century. I had to put this as it was like the very earliest book besides Arnold Ehret's Rational Fasting book (which was not nominated) that totally mesmerized me forever since the mid-70's!!! My next choice would be Spiritual Nutrition by Dr Gabriel Cousens as it outlines deep reasons to be vegan, violent-free diet.
14) Best Film Simply Raw, Reversing Diabetes in 30-days
15) Best magazine: Purely Delicious Rebecca Carlson I could have voted Raw Fu because it was really good but is no longer in existence and I voted for Bunny Berry in funniest raw vegan woman category. Rebecca Carlson is very involved and super nice on Facebook. I liked the look of the mag though I don't beleive I've ever had a hard copy.
16) Best online store: therawfoodworld.com
17) Event: Raw Union
18) funniest Raw Vegan Woman: Bunny Berry
19) Funniest Man: Matt Monarch (fingers in the blender tasting and licking the blender then deleting comments if anyone complains ha ha)
20) Caterer/Festival Booth Vendor: Ocean Hall by FAR! His tacos rocked my life at RAw Union when my 9-year-old daughter who hated the thought of raw foods, LOVED his raw tacos!!! yay!
21) Sweet Treat on Market: Bishops Best Ice Cream I also discoverd them at Raw Union and wow is it ever good! Can you believe it's all raw vegan?
22) Cracker "green smoothie cracker" the nomination did not tell the maker of this cracker who lives here in Portland, OR itsalivefood.com I beleive.
23) Favorite salty crunchy snack: goraw spicy seed mix
24) vegan green pwdr: Merlins Magic elixir 2nd) vitamineralgreen
25) Vegan online community Rawfoodrehab.com

Raw Vegan Cupcakes

Ho ho ho it's banana-carrot cake muffins (raw vegan) with cashew-date icing. I invented it without a dehydrator.

If they taste good I will post the recipe. Deal? ;) xo paz rawprincess

Massage Gift Certificates Special Offer

*squeeee* I'm so excited about Skylight Massage right now, that I *am* taking appointments NOW and seeing clients in Skylight's charming Kenton studio space.(Watch for a grand opening party early in 2010 though! ;))

In the spirit of healing in an economic recession and because of my eagerness to help others regain massage serenity and pain-reduction in my new studio, I am offering special discounts from the menus. (Scroll down to view menu of services and regular rates then use my discounts by purchasing this week.)

Thanks for your inquiries! For those who want to purchase gift certificates they are printed and mounted with the Skylight Massage logo hand-penned and placed lovingly in a nice envelope and tied with a beautiful bow. Keep in mind that I only have one dozen 6 of these ready so first come first serve. Also note: redemption is based on practitioner availability: Appointments can be made for any time after mid-January as I am working in Minneapolis over the holiday. ;)

The special offer is for those lovelies who purchase a gift certificate for my one-hour signature massage between now and Friday sundown. You may take $10 off the purchase. But there's more! If you use "Paypal" (icon on this webpage in the side bar) you may take an additional $5 off your total purchase! Yes that's right. I love a good sale and seek them out. This is your coupon.

If you buy more than one you may take an additional $5 off each certificate. (I've figured this out and created a drop-down box in the PayPal menu, it might even be crazier than that too ... ;))

(Please note: most one hours are considered Swedish/energy and would be $85 an hour. The deep tissue rate is for body builders or those who request exceptionally deep work and that is an extra $10 for $95 an hour).

To recap:
Buy this week (before Friday the 18th) for a $10 off regular cost of my 1-hr signature massage.
Buy with Pay Pal and take $5 off total purchase (So a 1-hr massage reg. $85 minus $15=$70)

Hi. I'm, Cindy Cummins, licensed massage therapist extraordinaire in Oregon and Connecticut. Bliss out in reconnection to body/mind/spirit with biodynamic craniosacral and advanced polarity therapy. You'll simply marvel in stress-relief or chronic tension melt-away from surgeries, past injury and accidents. All wound up? Let me at those knots with my signature massage, which deeply appeals to those who need deep tissue work. :)

Enjoy a loftymassage in our creative space @ Kenton Commons Lofts adjacent to the billowing trees of Kenton Park. :) For more about Skylight Massage at Rawprincess Studio's opening of Phase 2 day, Kenton's Third Thursday Art Walk November 19, including tours and a frenzy of amazing chair demos, raw chocolate decadence truffles-- read on.

For menu of services, rates and special offers, please scroll down or click here. Otherwise, read on for more about my coolness!

I studied reflexology as a teenager and read all I could find about natural foods and alternative healing. After spending years in community using raw living foods, detoxifying fasts and being trained in advanced bodywork, energy yoga and awareness counseling, I studied western and medical massage at East-West College of the Healing Arts in Oregon state and became licensed here as a massage therapist.
As my practice grew in Portland, Oregon, I took the Biodynamic Craniosacral two-year training for certification at Colorado School of Energy Studies in Boulder, Colorado. This has benefited clients with PTSD, old injuries, chronic pain and also those who have symptoms which western medicine cannot address.

Having been a gourmet vegetarian instructor and parent-leader, I enjoy supporting clients who wish to transition to healthy foods, exercise and emotional balance. All my work, whether traditional massage or quantum energy work is with respect to each client's inherent healing wisdom.

Cross-cultural alliances and eliminating racism is important to me.

With my license transferred to Connecticut in September 2008, and my New York licensure almost complete, I was welcomed to Danbury's Body Essentials, Holistic Dayspa and Wellness Center.

I worked at Body Essentials until I needed to return to Portland, Oregon, for co-parenting reasons. I now consider Portland my permanent home, at least until my kids are 26 years old. :-)

My daughter helped me name my massage and energy work practice as SkylightMassage! I will celebrate opening the doors of Phase 2 on Third Thursday Kenton Art Walk November 19 with chair massage and special offers, and offer additional walk-in special gift certificate rates and coupons on November 20 and 21, 2009.
Early-birds and RSVPs receive free sample mini-massage. Below please find my menu of services.

I am very happy to be here, in my element, and have followed true north to be here in Portland. Thank you all for your warm-hearted welcomes! Honored to be the Kenton Neighborhood Massage and Craniosacral Therapist. I'm just across from Kenton Park in Kenton Commons Lofts and creative spaces, and just a block over and up from Posies Cafe, Pizza Fino, Cup 'n Saucer and others. Just a stone's throw from the light rail stop on Interstate as well. The lofts intersect at N Willis and N Brandon, a block west of N Interstate. *weeeeee!*

To book an appointment with me at SkylightMassage, call 503-208-2717.

Tuesdays is currently dollar-a-minute special day for those who can show they follow skylightmassage on Twitter. Go to twitter.com and find skylightmassage then click follow. In settings turn phone notifications on. Or mention this blogpost. (while availability lasts).

sometimes u just need support: @blpdx thx 4 gr8 green juice & live falafel wrap

Thx to blossoming lotus pearl for a fantastic greendrink followed by live falafel wrap.

The first 3-days eliminating cooked, processed, or high glycemic foods are usually the most difficult. Once you get past the 3-day mark the carvings usually subside quite a bit.

Ran My First 5K Oceanside Turkey Trot

Yes, I made my best time and jogged without stopping. I want to thank my son Alex for his coaching and tips which cleared up problems I've had since 1978. Also, Alex's role model of consistently running has been a big inspiration. I want to thank my Fiance Mr Markgraf for coaching me and developing my fitness level to a much higher level than it previously had ever been. This was fun and when I get the real photo I promise I'll post it right here. For now here's an order form with a sample ... ;) xo love, cindy

Onward!

Hello My Name Is Bunny and I'm a Food Addict.

This is the creator of RawFu.com a free site for those wanting to add more raw salads and smoothies to their day or for anyone wanting a raw foods total experience. Bunny Berry is now in the midst of her second annual Holiday challenge and the new 100-day challenge begins January 1.

I want to share this vlog with my readers because it's so central to the struggles many of us have. We want to change but we don't.

I have another reason for sharing it. I've been following Bunny's vlogs for most of the year and this is the first time I've seen her with this kind of easy smile. I have to say it's the most beautiful and sincerely happy and effortless I've ever seen her look. Something certainly happened in her "surrender" to admit powerless over sugar, her admission of having a problem and in openly being willing to go on a low glycemic program based on Dr Gabriel Cousens "Live Green Cuisine" uncooking book.
